Risto is a fashion house established in 2009 by Risto Bimbiloski, in Paris.
The label possesses a unique know-how in the domain of hand-made knitwear. Risto Bimbiloski is inspired by the traditional artisan techniques common to the knowledge of women in Ohrid, his birth town in Macedonia. These techniques are translated into a style that is utmost contemporary, thus creating exceptionally personal garments.
Who are you?
I am a Macedonian designer who is based in Paris. After finishing my degree at Duperré, I continued to learn the trade with stints at Jean Colonna and Thierry Mugler. In parallel with my own collection, I have worked for Louis Vuitton, Façonnable and currently working as head knitwear designer at Kenzo under the artistic direction of Humberto and Carol.
How would you define your style?
The DNA of my collection is mostly based on knitwear and prints. I have always been inspired by the artisanal know-how of the women in Macedonia that I translate into very modern and contemporary style. The prints are exclusively developed for the brand, via collaborations with known artists such as Nicolas Sassoon or James Reeve.
What inspires you?
Science, Discovery Channel and people I meet.
Where do you manufacture your products?
The entire collection, samples and production, is manufactured in my own factory in Macedonia, run by my mother. Most of the pieces always have a hand-made touch!
Where can we find your collection?
Isetan (Tokyo), Opening Ceremony (NYC, L.A., Tokyo), Sauce (Dubai), Tom Greyhound (Seoul)...
